Hostelling in DC (Washington: lofts, station, subway)

Does anyone know any good cheap hostels in the DC area?

I came across one so far called Hill top Takoma Park..

Is the Takoma Park area safe?
Its right next to a subway station ...and seems ok.
for $22 a night..

-Any other suggestions for hostels?
I dont want to share a room if possible....(if they have single rooms)
would be best.

Hostel doesnt have to be in DC could be in the surrounding towns like Alexandria, Arlington, etc. but has to be close to a metro station (within walking distance)

The hostel in Takoma Park is really close to the Metro. The area is pretty safe, but as always, you should keep your wits about you.
