Inner-beltway PG County MD is probably cheap.

Based on my own search for housing in the DC area, I think you are looking at southeast DC and probably areas in Prince George's County near SE DC inside the Beltway.

I didn't personally check it out, but it sounds like the Hillcrest area is probably the safest area in SE DC. I don't believe it is adjacent to any Metrorail stations (of course, you could drive to the station). However, it is possible there may be a Metrobus route from the Hillcrest area to near Judiciary Square.

The outer Beltway of Pg county is way more expensive then DC. To purchase a home in the outer beltway you are looking at minimum 500k. If you want ghetto rent in DC because Dc is known for having plenty of ghetto apartments.

If you want to live in the Outer Beltway in pg county for a 1bedroom in Bowie it will cost you minimum 1200 a month. Upper marlboro is not known for having rentals majority Simgle family homes with median income for 90k and higher so apartments will run $1300 and up . Bowie Median income is 100k and higher per household. so finding a cheap ghetto apartment in the outerbelt way will never happen.
