Hello,
I really need your help on this. I need to get to downtown DC from Kingstowne / Franconia area AVOIDING metro! I am going crazy with the service and I really do NOT like it anymore.
Is there a express bus for me to take?
I can't take the HOV share rides as I do work crazy hours so BUS is my only option.
Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ever wonder my Metro is always so crowded, even when the service sucks and they have constant safety issues? The answer is because there is no good alternative. That is the reality of dense urban areas. You either have to use the Subway or sit in traffic.
You are making your life harder by avoiding Metro. There is no good alternative. Even with bad service, you will usually get where you're going faster and cheaper by Metro than any other option.
So my answer to your question is there is no answer to your question.
They could try VRE...They are far enough out where it is a viable option.
Metro is great for those who live in DC, but on the outer rim like Franconia-Springfield it kind of sucks. This is where VRE becomes a better alternative. Driving still sucks.
There is also express buses...but I have zero info on those.
There are no buses from Franconia. There's only a bus that goes to the Pentagon where you would have to get on Metro.
VRE is a good option but of course that's dependent on where exactly you work. When I lived in Franconia, I actually took VRE to L'Enfant instead of Metro because it's quicker, cleaner, and much more reliable.
