I'm looking for advice for the best airport to fly in and out of for a job interview in Tysons. It looks like IAD would be the best due to distance and traffic. I've only flown through DCA.

Both are about equal distance to Tysons. If you fly in to DCA you can take the metrorail there if the office is near a station. IAD takes longer in general to transit through. Driving or taking a cab they'll be pretty similar time wise.

DCA is better. You have more transportation options, and it's an easier airport to transit in and out of.

Deleted--not giving advice to those who post and then never reply.

Dulles (IAD) is definitely better by car and only about 15 minutes . There are dedicated lanes for the airport and the route isn't really bothered by DC's traffic. DCA is decent as well (20-25 minutes) and has better public transportation options.

If I was going for a job interview, I'd choose IAD. Yes, the distance is further, but both the flight operations and the ground transportation would prove less turbulent.

IAD is super easy to get to from Tysons. Traffic on 66/Dulles Toll Road can be a crawl between Tysons and Arlington which would make it burdensome to get to DCA.

In fact, even though I live like 5 miles from DCA, it really isn't that much quicker to get there because of traffic and lack of highway connections.

I don't know if that's really true about public transportation options. From IAD a bus to Wiehle Ave Metro seems just as good as taking the Blue line to Rosslyn and transferring to the Silver line.

You said BUS. The privileged upper middle-class Northern Virginia folk don't ride BUSES. That's for the poor!

Seriously, it is very easy to get to Dulles by transit already. The Fairfax Connector comes every 15 minutes and it is a very quick bus trip to Wiehle. Honestly, I would rather take public transit to Dulles than Reagan just because of the stupid Blue Line.

Thanks everyone! I'm flying in and out of DCA just due to better flight schedules.
