We are moving to DC for 2 1/2 months for DH temporary assignment. We can't decide on DC or Arlington (or another area). We will have 1 car. Kids are homeschooled, so schools don't matter. I 9the wife) go out at night to AA meetings, so if we decide on DC it'd have to be easy (and safe) area for me to go out alone. Any recommendations?

Arlington is a better bet when talking about safe only because it's safe is more spread than DC. With the exception of upper nothwest dc... DC is very block to block in NE, SE, SW, and parts to the esat of rock creek park in NW.

Default Capital Hill? Eastern Market?

What about Capitol Hill especially near Eastern Market?

Capitol Hill is nice... but you have to admit... there are some scatterings of bad neighborhoods. Remember... the nationals stadium is technically in capitol hill!!
