Dear all,

I am moving to DC for a short term this month, I may need some hint for the location. I will be working in the area of 15th St NW Washington, DC 20005..

Could you please advise me what is the best commute route to here with transportation wise? I am looking for inexpensive place to live and commute to 15th St NW Washington, DC 20005.

Thank you all in advance.

Live close. Up 16th Street. Very good bus routes up 16th and 14th streets.

Where on 15th? It's a long NS street.

Be aware that there are no really good commutes in DC. You can select from one or two of the following, but never more:

1. Nice safe neighborhood
2. Good amenities, such as restaurants and shopping
3. easy commute
4. affordable

I could add to the list, but you get the idea. DC is a sprawling congested city and metro area. Lots of choices but any choice will entail big compromises.

Your preferences would be helpful in giving advice.

Uh, are you getting roommates? You arent getting your own apartment on that budget and can barely afford it even with roommates.

On your budget, I'd definitely look along 14th and 16th streets. You will get a better deal up there.

A lot of older homes up 16th street rent out basement apartments or rooms in the house. Check Craigslist to see what is available.
