I personally am not impressed with DC's (not including the suburbs) food scene. I've had a hard time trying to find good quality meals for under $15 compared to the same quality of food for the price that you get in other comparable cities such as NYC, Houston, Philly, LA, New Orleans, Chicago, Portland and Seattle. I feel like to have a good food scene you need quality food at all price points not just fine dining restaurants.

Well, considering DC is the international incubator for fast causal restaurants and really started the trend, I don't know what you mean. What places have you tried?

Hell naw lol. I just know first hand that DC isn't really #1 but at the end of the day a good restaurant is a good restaurant no matter what city or state it's in. That said NYC blows DC out of the water and whoever wrote that article is biased.

Many items under $10.

For instance, Taqueria Habanero's Yelp listing gets a singe $ out of a possible $$$$ for "under $10". That is Yelp's "cheapest" price range.

My list includes places where you can get good quality meals for under $10 and I added in more quality places with dishes between $10 and $15.
