He isn't either. He is a franchiser of the Trump brand and licenses his name to actual real estate developers. He used to be a developer, went bankrupt, and the lenders that he owed billions to as a developer let him pretend being the "developer" because his brand was a luxurious brand that still had value. That's why he licenses his name to everything like steaks, suits, water, seminars, etc., he learned it was extremely profitable and low risk to be a licensor of the Trump brand vs. being an actual developer. He wasn't very good at that.

I learned this when looking up a Toronto Trump building and some people were suing him, and his defense was he wasn't really the developer, so they were suing the wrong people.

All true.

But my main point was that Trump would not push an "anti-development" or "anti-gentrification" agenda if he won the election. He is a city guy not a blue collar hillbilly... even though he panders most to that group at the moment.

And to think that the hotel has been completed 2 years ahead of schedule would at least mean something to the economic wonks. Whether he is directly involved or associated, the fact of that matter is that he is producing. An accomplishment is an accomplishment- unrelated to the presidency.

The problem with this current election cycle is none of the candidates are getting any type of acknowledgment for their efforts by their non-supporters. The petty biases and buffoonery are at an all time high...

I don't think Trump will directly influence government spending. In fact, I heard he's recently said that he wanted to increase defense spending. Congress (House and Senate) decides on government spending. I do agree that a federal contraction is definitely likely. There has been increasing momentum for years to decrease government spending. I think the contraction will be slow and gradual, rather than massive; but it's definitely due to happen. I hope that Trump doesn't win, but I don't think he will directly influence the DC economy if he does.

I wouldn't be one bit surprised if the name "Trump" isn't removed from that building if he wins, if for anything else, security reasons. Same could probably be said for several of his high profile buildings. Just would seem like a go-to target for the bad guys.

If Trump wins... his name on buildings will be the least of our problems.

Really, how utterly ridiculous would it look to the rest of the world if the president had his name emblazoned on a giant, glitzy hotel in between the two main centers of federal government?
They could save money and recycle all those "TRUMP" signs that were pulled off all those closed and empty casino hotels in Atlantic City.

People are so easily manipulated. Call yourself a "winner" and people believe you. Then they vote for you. People love confidence regardless of competence. The confident guy gets the girl even if he is a loser. The shy guy with no game loses the girl even if he is a winner. If a style is popular it is "good" even if its bad. If some reporter on TV says "The sky is falling" everyone believes them. When Real Estate agents in 2007 told people "The value of your house will go up forever" people believed them. When the TeeVee said "Buy Beanie Babies because they will be worth a billion dollars later" people bought them in droves.

Seems your average person is a mindless sheep that cannot think for themselves. This election cycle has made me lose respect for people in general. Not just Americans, but people overall.
