Whatever you think of his politics, there's no denying that Donald Trump knows how to build some nice hotels. His latest one, the Trump International Hotel in DC, is at the enviable site of the Old Post Office. That building has undergone a $200 million renovation. Rooms are available for September 12, starting at $945 per night not including taxes and fees. Check out these pics to get a taste of how it will look:

So, do you think this will be a game-changer and help bring on a lot of vitalization to that part of the city?

I would agree with this. Though I'm also partial to the Shoreham having played many band gigs in the Marquis lounge (a great room before it was remodeled). The old post office pavilion may be the finest building in the city but will it pan out as a world class hotel? Time will tell.

It sure gives it a lot of competition.

I think a few of the other top hotels in DC right now are the Jefferson, the Hay-Adams, Sofitel, St. Regis and W.

I would also include the Wardman Park Marriot, the Ritz-Carlton, and the aforementioned Omni Shoreham.

I love this place when it comes to sitting in the lobby and having drinks. I've been here twice just for that and I love it! The drinks are very expensive but the service and ambiance are great.
