True. Also, the OP also said he was interested in NoVA, which opens up several options. A quick search on all the major apartment websites shows that there are plenty of options for around $1500 in NoVA (Arlington, Alexandria, Falls Church, Fairfax, etc) in perfectly fine looking buildings. Assuming the OP has no debt, he/she could even up their budget a little and find an apartment in a new building. With renting, if you have a decent salary, you can afford many places, but it's important to not throw all your money into rent. Retirement savings for young adults is important, although it's a personal choice. I personally lower my rental budget a little, so that I can save more, although all people have different priorities.
I totally agree. And, it's good to start as early as possible with a decent retirement savings plan.
