The murder rate is climbing. I just did a calculation of the area compromising of DC east of 14th Street NW/SW and inner Beltway PG and this swath has the same murder rate as Baltimore.

No surprise to see such a concentration of it in D.C. southeast of the Anacostia and in the adjacent Maryland sections. It'll be a long time before those areas get gentrified though I am sure some people hope that Amazon will give it a push. I have my doubts.

Big development in Arlington is unlikely to do much for folks in wards 7 and 8. Hopefully some folks in 7 and 8 will find jobs with HQ2.

That was def the case a few years back like in 08 09 when DC had about 180 and PG would have about 150 but recently the DC area had 280 murders in the metro ...that's less than Baltimore city. Baltimore has around 350 now, they are getting worst over the years.
