Anyone here ever tried DC's free wireless hotspots? (apartment, price)

I will be moving into a new apartment in the district next week and I am in the general area where the OpenPark Project has free wireless.

I think these are the same wireless providers who have made the Mall a free wireless hotspot. Has anyone here ever tried the free wireless on the Mall or around Dupont Circle? And how good is it?

Those FREE wireless hotspots are the focus of intense snooping on EVERYTHING you do on line. So, forget about modesty. Your bunns are EXPOSED when you connect for free. THAT is the price of convenience. I would NEVER connect to something FREE before knowing exactly what its going to cost in real coin and in hidden risk factors.
