Default Insight on Individual DC Condo Developments - Revitalization?

This is an ambitous request, nonetheless ... I'm a young professional currently in NOVA, working in NW, and interested in possibly buying a 2 BR condo in DC. Most of NW is out of my price range, and I'm intrigued by the options elsewhere in revitalizing areas while being a part of that process. According to CONDOAUTHORITY, the following are new condo developments around DC that may offer 2 BR for (or close to) $350K, or in some cases well under.

Are people with personal experience with individual developments and the surrounding areas willing to share their insights? Yes, I realize that this won't overall be as secure with as good schools as NOVA (and yes I'm also considering options in VA and MD) ... Any feedback very much appreciated! ... Thanks in advance.

I can't really help regarding specific developments - I haven't seen them. The NW ones are in Petworth, which is a pretty ok area with new amenities moving in all the time. But... one idea would be to shy away from new construction. You will pay a premium for new construction and it may well depreciate for a time after you move in. Instead, think about an older less "hip" building, where you could buy a unit for less money, and then renovate to your tastes. Just an idea...

The ones in 20003 are near Capitol Hill (for the most part, I think) and the Potomac metro. From driving around that area it doesn't seem too bad.

I would just say do a lot of research in the area you're interested in, and keep in mind that "revitalization" can stall (so be semi-comfortable with the area, as-is).
