Default Job Search Advice

I've been responding to ads on Craigslist and other job forums, but wondering if anyone here works for a recruiting or headhunting firm? Just looking for any leg up.

Thanks!

Generally, people who work at recruiting or headhunting firms are looking for people who are already comfortable in their jobs - they usually don't go out of their way to talk to someone that they don't find themselves.

Well, yes and no. One of my good friends is an accounting and finance recruiter and he's always looking for new clients to place.

Just thought there might be one over here.

When I was looking for a company to work for in the DC area I started out by reading about the best employers here.

Washingtonian Mag has a pretty comprehensive & informative article on this topic:
2007 Great Places to Work (washingtonian.com) (http://www.washingtonian.com/packages/placestowork2007/index.html - broken link)

This is one good place to start - just see if any of these companies sound like a good fit for you, then call/write them and tell them "I read about you on the 50 Best Places to Work in DC article..."

Might help if you mentioned what kind of job you are looking for. The federal govt will definitely need more and more people as its workforce continues to age. Check out USAJOBS - The Federal Government's Official Jobs Site for current listings. Starting salaries may not be six figure but benefits are very good. Worth checking out.
