since when did they make the speed limit 40MPH on the SW freeway and how can they allow the city to call it a freeway if you aren't allowed to drive over 40 MPH TX and CA wouldn't stand for this so why do we?

Angry Speed Traps

Thank you, District of Columbia. I rode through the city to get to a house party in Virginia on March 20th. It's difficult enough negotiating New York Avenue between South Dakota and North Capital. I made it to the 3rd street tunnel, which always proves difficult to handle in terms of the lane changes and ramps. (Never mind trying to get on E Street to the Whitehurse Parkway.) So sorry that I did not see the posted speed limit. You fined me $125 and have now made me wary of driving through the District. Y'all are wonderful. I haven't gotten a speeding ticket in...decades. But...ya got me! Going 59 when I should have gone 45. (45 on the 3rd street tunnel?) I am disgusted.

Glad to help out. Next time take the beltway.

Damn the city published where all the camera locations are. If you still get caught, one has to ask, "How stupid is that?" It's not like they are sneaking up on you. Hello!

I hate speed cameras. Hate them with an undying passion. Good ol' District of Columbia trying to squeeze every penny out of you that they can.

With that said, yeah its on you to be mindful that they are out there. From my understanding speed camera tickets don't go on your record so at least your insurance won't go up. Sorry dude but it sounds like you're from Maryland. Y'all have those speed cameras too. I'm just glad VA only does the red light cameras.

The only reason to hate speed and red light cameras is that you want to break the traffic ordinances and not pay the price. Time to grow up and be an adult.

Dude I agreed with you while you're hurling insults. You skipped the part where I said "its on you to be mindful that they are out there."

Red light cameras cause accidents because people slam on brakes when they see those little white cameras. I just hate the idea of being watched by big brother and being fined for it. Did I say I was going to do much about it? No. If I was a Montgomery county resident know that I would've been the first to sign that petition that was circulating around to get rid of them.

Funny thing about being an adult I can hate something and still totally like be a grown up and stuff. Know that.

I'm not a dude. Adolescents use silly phrases like that, but on CD try to act like an adult.

And red light cameras reduce accidents. Check with the DC police. The Insurance Institute for highway safety found a 26% drop in fatalities. Adults rely on real, not imaginary data.

There you go implying I'm not an adult because I disagree with you after I made a joke to lighten the mood. Like totally note like the wink.

I actually don't have a problem with red light cameras because they're right there visible and I'm a little mindful not to speed up when I see the light turning yellow. The speed cameras in my opinion are a little more hidden and it does have a sneaky GOTCHA feel to it. I realize that me not liking something won't make it go away particularly when there's money to be made from not-so-mindful motorists. I still say that I hate them. I'm fortunate to not have gotten any pink love notes in the mail but I still have a strong distaste for them.
