Default Meridian Hill Park?

I'm looking for apts. near a Yellow/Green line station, and I came up with this place:

Rent Washington

It's at the corner of Kalorama and Ontario, basically midway between Meridian Hill Park and Kalorama Park, which places it roughly equidistant between Adams Morgan's and Columbia Heights' metro stations.

The apartment prices are insanely low for a 1BR with decent amenities near two metro stations. Is this a really bad block or something? I've heard people say good things about the Kalorama triangle; does it get much worse when you go a couple of blocks South-East?

I live on Ontario, one block south of the building you are asking about. The block is fine, nothing particularly bad about it. The reason for low rents is that the building is not recently renovated, and houses lower middle class families. The area has both new/recently redone buildings that are pricey and examples like this one, much more affordable.
