That doesn't really narrow it down either. It describes a very large area. It could be a very nice place or a very not-nice place.

Well the area I know best is M st to K st, between 8th and the Metro station. It's getting better and better, but still has a ways to go. I went down M st. last night while walking to the station, and didn't see anything bad there.

chiefdc is on a distinguished road
The area near Galludet is fair. It is close to some of the nicest neighborhoods in the entire country (Capitol Hill, south of H Street) but it is certainly a work in progress north of H to Florida. I'd say 2,000 is a fairly good value there if you get 3BR.
