Actually, that's the beauty of DC--many of the cultural activities and opportunities are free or very inexpensive. Cost of living here is indeed quite high, but that's largely due to the housing market. The cultural amenities don't really contribute towards that.

Well I was talking about the cultural activities that you have to pay for like symphonies and stuff like that. I know the Smithsonian, the monuments, all that stuff is free. Yeah the thing that makes Washington expensive is the housing. The rest of the stuff in Washington is reasonably priced. Some people move to Fredericksburg, VA to get the cheaper houses.
