I am moving to the city soon and will be fairly close to a metro and don't have the funds to purchase a car at the moment and am not even sure if I want to while living in the city. I don't know how I feel about fully relying on public transportation (being from the suburbs I don't think it is something for me). I stumbled across zipcar.com while on the metro and looked at the website. It looks like a good deal, but of course they make it sound good, they are selling it. I don't think I will need to use a car all that much but would like the freedom of having one at my fingertips if need be and from their advertisement it does seem like this is possible. Does anyone have any experience with it? Would you refer their services?

ZipCar is amazing. I had to use it for a week while my car was in the shop. I've also used it to rent a pick-up for moving. It's easy to make reservations online. I've never had a problem of the car not being there. Highly recommended.

My friend who lived in Alexandria relied on it whenever she needed a car and she always had good things to say...except don't return the car late! Apparently the late fees were huge. She showed me where the cars were parked near her apartment building, and they were very obvious and easy to find. Nice looking cars too, not heaps of junk.
