My Mom and brother live in a small (but rapidly growing) city in FL and the jobs available there (when they can find something) are low-level and low paying. DC is a contrast to that and is a place that is relatively well insulated against recession, with all the government/government contracting/military etc. employment. You have to be able to deal with the lifestyle, however, which is crowded, congested, and expensive (though stimulating) and the fast pace.
No, there aren't loads of available single boomer guys here, quite the opposite. DC is infamous for having many more single straight women than single straight men, in general. However, I've known some couples who met on travel or over the Internet--if you can "date" long distance. As a DC-area gal at present, frankly I'd love to meet some guy in his 50s or so who is out of the frenetic Northeast-corridor lifestyle, nice, normal, good values and character, even a small town type. (So there you have it, from one who knows:-)

Well, we thought those posts were surely helpful...thanks!!!!
My friend isn't interested in meeting anyone, but I am (but I think she is just saying that, really). Yes, I remember when I lived in DC in the late '60's the saying was 7 women to every man. Not true...but it surely seemed that way.
Take a look at match.com, tho, and you will find MANY guys looking for someone. Now we can all just hope that they are single and not married wolves in sheep's clothing....

Nah CP isn't the cheapest, just the only example I can use cuz I lived there. I can only speculate what the absolute cheapest place near a Metro stop is but I don't think I would want to live there.
