Default Temporary Resident in DC... park in VA?

Hello, I just started a job in DC, and right now I'm renting a room from somebody month to month, so no lease. I bike to work everyday, or take the metro, so I don't drive my car. But I don't have off street parking. Is it possible to to park it in Arlington somewhere? According to this map: http://magellan.co.arlington.va.us/M...king_Zones.pdf only a few areas require a permit. Since I only drive a few times a month, parking it 5 or so miles away isn't a big deal. Right now I'm having my roommate/landlord get a temporary 2 week parking permit every two weeks, but thats a hassle, for both of us. I've looked in becoming a resident of DC, but I may move to VA sooner or later, and since my works payroll comes out of VA, it'll save me in taxes. But as of now I'm just trying to get settled in the job and get a feel for the area. Everything is great... except worrying about getting permit.

Watch out for abandoned vehicle laws as well, particularly if the car has out-of-state plates on it. Might get towed away if they see it sitting in the same spot for too long...
