Absolutely staying away. Have been to my share of them and this one will likely be pretty nuts. Even at 1/3rd the number of people they are projecting DC can be a zoo. This will go down in the history books.
Wonder if they'll test the emergency evacuation plan after the parade is over or something. Now that would be a test far and away more realistic than the 4th of July tests.
With the bars open 24 hours, people will refuse to evacuate. I don't believe any three million people are actually coming, but it's going to be a crazy few days anyway you slice it...
I have friends coming to visit, so I will be at the bar(s) with them. And, I/we are on a waiting list for tickets to a ball..so, maybe that too...should be interesting.
I am coming all the way from Wyoming. I'm taking a group of 44 students/parents. Thank goodness the tour company has handled the Inauguration tour for many years. Even though it will be a cluster we are really looking forward to taking part in a historical day. I hope it isn't TOO cold as I know we'll be outside, standing up, for the entire day! It will be way below zero here next week, so if it's at least 10 degrees or so while we're there it will feel warm to us! I've always known that I'm "one in a million", now I will be able to say I'm one in three million!
It's going to be cold. Even if it is 'warm' (i.e. 40s or so) you'll be outside for 6-8 hours and it's a cold wet feeling that will chill your bones. Please dress appropriately, layers and layers (so you can take one off if too cold).
I will probably go to some of the parties over the weekends- with the bars open until 5am, you can guarantee it'll be a good time, if you can stand the crowds.
I am not looking forward to the crowds, but this is something I can't pass up. I live in the city and this is what.. 4-6 miles from my house? How could I NOT go...
