DC this weekend
Friends of ours have suggested a happy hour night out in Georgetown on Saturday. Other people i've spoken to have said not to go near the place from Friday PM until after Tuesday (these people are older than me so don't know how much to believe - they may be the type of people that dont even like standing in a bar).
Who is right? Will it be hell on wheels or just busy in hotels/balls etc? Oh btw we have to get the metro from NOVA.

The way I look at all of this is: There will be a lot of chaos and it might be super-crowded, but you will be able to say the you were there and tell good stories to people that weren't. I, personally, think it is going to be sort of fun - as long as it isn't raining. I also think this will be an event that will be talked about for a while..again, you can say you were there..right in the middle..drinking beer..

Do you like Georgetown at all?
We're just talking about a happy hour on a freezing saturday night, so i dont think it should be a big deal. It won't be "hell on wheels," I mean it's georgetown after all.

I've never been to Georgetown (only been in the States 6 weeks!). So will it just be a "normal" Saturday night and not mega busy?

I really think it depends on which bar you choose.
It will probably be busier than another Saturday night in january, but mainly because there will be so many out-of-towners here who don't know anything about DC nightlife aside from something called "Georgetown" so there will be plenty of folks out and about.
I imagine it will be just fine.

I've found some people to have very strong opinions regarding Georgetown (both on the pro and con side). Why, I'm not really sure, I've always had a decent experience. It'll be a little crowded, but come expecting that and you'll be fine.
Out of curiosity, where are you going?
