Default DC Questions:

Good Morning,

We have to take a trip to DC in a month and we plan to spend 4 days in town, however my husband and I and our 4 year old daughter would love to visit a museum on the National Mall, (not sure which one yet) however my son who is almost 3 will NOT go for that, he will ruin it for the rest of us because he is just not at that age where they show some interest....

We are looking for a drop in daycare, preschool and such around the 22nd street where we will stay at that time.

We would greatly appreciate any suggestions...

Thank you,

Alexandra

There is a Bright Horizons at 12th and Penn, which is a couple of blocks from the Mall. I do not know if they can provide what you need so give them a call.

I have seen a slew of 3-year-olds in the Natural History Museum that are completely mesmerized by all the lights and sights.

really? you know I would love to take him, I am just afraid that he will start throwing a fit every time we go against what he wants, (he is a very very loud screamer) and I just don't want to disturb the other guests at the museum....that's why I was entertaining other options...

Thank you Moth, I will give them a buzz and see what they say. As plan "B" I guess.

Alex

I remember watching this little girl, she had to be 3, with her mother as they entered that side room with the floating laser globe that shows the tectonic plates moving (right before the marine exhibit). She was completely enthralled by the laser globe, and started whining when her mother wanted to take her into the marine exhibit. She wouldn't take her eyes off the globe. Her mom picked her up and she started crying, and then they walked into the marine exhibit. That little girl's eyes were as big as dinner plates when she saw all there was to see. She went completely silent.

There is so much for a toddler to see it's basically information overload. I've taken my 3 year old many times and it's just a huge adventure. He cried when visiting the butterfly exhibit, and then laughed when he saw a 12 foot polar bear and said 'kitty' at the big lions.
