I'm in DC for a while and I was wondering what the good places are for single, young professionals to hang out? I've only been to 1 or 2 places in Georgetown and I would really like to know what places are good tonight and tomorrow as well as on weekends. Thank you.

There's a collection of pretty decent up-market places in Midtown right at the intersection of Connecticut Ave. / M Street / 18th Street (just north of Farragut Square, south of Dupont Circle). They tend to draw an international crowd, a lot moreso than Georgetown.

Maybe start with 18th Street Lounge, which doesn't have a sign, but its entrance is just left of the mattress store and its above that store. Dress decent. They have a pretty strict dress code.

Venture uptown into Adams Morgan. There are plenty of bars to choose from all along 18th street ... just stick closer to Columbia Rd (not south, near Florida). I particularly like GrandCentral and the Reef bar, which has a really nice heated rooftop lounge.

Two Words...Adams Morgan. I used to live in the area and I miss 18th street with a passion. My old stomping grounds were Ventnor, GrandCentral and Saki. Plus Jumbo slice or Julia's Empanadas was the best after a looong night out.
