The DC numbers are for HIV/AIDS, not merely AIDS alone. Because many cities still do not compile official HIV statistics, it is not conclusive to compare based on the combined numbers. Based on the AIDS component of the DC number alone as against the AIDS numbers for other cities, DC would be fifth, behind San Francisco, New York, Miami, and Ft. Lauderdale.
