Default What areas of DC are pet friendly?

I was in the city this past weekend. While it was dreary and somewhat cold afternoon, I noticed very people walking with dogs. Is DC a pet friendly place? Which neighborhoods tend to have lots of pet friendly rentals and parks with dogs.

Is there a fenced dog park anywhere in DC?

While I had pets while in DC, they weren't dogs. Still, I always saw plenty of people walking dogs (and our local pet store was always busy), and lots of people in our neighborhood seemed to own them. I don't know that it's a neighborhood thing - probably more rental-by-rental. I think there are official dog parks in DC, although I don't know which are fenced - try looking on yelp.

DC is a pretty pet-friendly place, but you probably wouldn't get that from hanging around the typical "touristy" areas like the mall. In the residential areas and in most neighborhoods, you'll see plenty of people walking dogs. Downtown, the National Mall, and Georgetown (the tourist hotspots)? Not so much.

I don't own a dog (I have 2 cats), but I see enough people who do to assume it's pet-friendly. There is one fenced dog park I know of at the congressional cemetary, and I know there's a lot of push to add more. MetroPets Yellow Pages: Dog Parks

It might have bean the dreary weather keeping them inside. They're everywhere on warm days when I'm walking through NW
