Hey all, I live and work in the DC area and just wanted to introduce myself. I'm currently doing some work with the Scott Common Sense community. I'm glad the weather's finally starting to warm up in the area- finally got a chance to get on the Capitol Crescent a few weekends ago- looking forward to hanging out around here!
Spring in Washington has always been my favorite. I live in Crestwood just by Rock Creek Park, and I love driving when the trees are coming into their own. Certainly nicer than being stuck up here in Mass, where it's weirdly humid but not warm enough to go out without a coat yet ...
Welcome schweet! And welcome also to what is typically the nicest two months in the city: April and May (first half of June as well). Springtime is gorgeous here, as everything blooms and the city just comes alive.
If you're going to check out the cherry blossoms, here's a little tip: avoid the overcrowded 9though picturesque) Tidal Basin, and head instead out to Hains point, which actually has more cherry blossom trees than the Tidal Basin, along with far fewer crowds. It's sad that the "Awakening" sculpture is no longer there, but the voews of the trees and the DC skyline across the Potomac are lovely.
Last year was the first year I really took advantage of the Cherry Blossom Festival. I was living in Rosslyn and everything was a hop skip and a jump away from me. I'm over in Bethesda these days, but I split my free time between home and DC- always something fun to do downtown. Too bad today's a bit dreary, but heard it's going to warm up and clear out by tomorrow
