My point is that there are a large portion of riders on there just commuting to work. When 8 out of 10 riders on the train has a four-year degree, I'd feel pretty safe. Most gang members or people that will actually try to harm you usually don't have one.
This isn't some slum subway like in some cities. Like someone else stated, this may be one of the safest places to be in the city.

I was just adding that in there. They are both Metro services and I never thought that it would upset anyone by adding that extra little fact in there. I'm sure most people found it interesting even if you didn't. Just don't think it's worth getting off-topic about.

You grew up around Benning/Minnesota Avenue but you are posting hysteria about safety on the green line? That's the equivilent of a Lion warning other Lions about Zebras. LOL

I grew up in Silver Spring and rode the Red Line since its opening. When the Green Line opened and it connected, the Red Line experience changed over night. Threatening, nasty "young folks" frequently on their way to cause trouble at Wheaton Plaza. My Forest Glen station (Red Line), as well as the surrounding neighborhood became instantly changed with crime and gang graffiti. I was lucky to sell my home and get out of there just before the neighborhood went down.

^^^^^Right! Blame Wheaton's issues on the green line. WTF? I guess it's all those MS13 gangbangers coming from PG County. Some of you are truly crazy. But what does that say about me for debating you? Seriously, if you think Forest Glen is bad, then I hoped you moved to Montana to escape the treachery.

I've never been afraid to ride the Metro anywhere. That said, I can understand the fears that a newbie might have. Therefore, this thread is not ridiculous. There are some ridiculous posts contained in the thread, as there usually is, and you have pointed some of them out. Good job on that.

Hello my name is Earl, I want to come to DC and have everything there is to offer but want to live in an igloo cause I am scared of scary things... What should I do???
Just for the record the green line was one of the last lines built so it usually doesn't have a lot of breakdowns (not to say it never has delays), but obviously the poster is more concerned about .... eeek teenagers..
By the way, Artomatic is really filled with a lot of bad art... it's almost too much...
