Hello all! I just started working in DC and am currently commuting from MD. I am looking around at different places to live and happened to come across The V at City Vista over near Mt. Vernon square. I haven't gotten to take a look at them yet, but the pictures look pretty nice. I was just wondering how safe the area is? I'm asking because my girlfriend will be moving with me and would be taking the Mt Vernon metro to College park and walking from the apartments over on L street, possibly at night coming home from class. I did some googleing and read that the neighborhood was up and coming, but some parts still aren't the greatest. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
Mount Vernon is pretty safe. There are always pedestrians, which of course can bring some unwanted elements of society, but that is offset by the amount of people that go thru the neighborhood so no real violent crime.
