Hi. I will be completing my residency in Rockville, MD starting August 15th. I am looking to move to the area August 1st. Does any one have some advice as to where a cute, affordable, and safe place to live would be? Also, anyone knowing of home/apt. rentals available for viewing would be helpful.

I am looking to spend no more than $1300 a month and I have a partner and small dog.

Thank you for any help/advice...

How about Rockville? It would certainly be convenient, and it has all the other things as well. Rockville, Derwood, Gaithersburg, Montgomery Village, Germantown...they should all be on the list. The $1300 could be a problem in some of those areas, particularly for rental homes as opposed to apartments, but there are nice spots out there for the price. You could expand and likely cut into the costs some by looking at more off the beaten path places such as Burtonsville, Clarksville, or Laytonsville. Craig's List is as good a place to start as any...
