Default daycare in federal buildings?

I have read on different websites that some Federal Agencies/Departments have daycare available at their buildings in DC. Is anyone aware of this? What Agencies have them? Cost? Requirements? Difficult to get in?

Yes a number of federal agencies have onsite daycares. Bright Horizon used to run at least two of them, you might check their website. Smithsonian has their own which is run on a lottery system (or at least used to be). They are comparative in cost to any other daycare in DC. They are not subsidized in any way for federal employees. Certain agencies will get preference at each daycare. If you are not an employee of that agency, it will be difficult to get a spot.

They are actually less than the private ones nearby. I have my child in one, and it costs around $1300/month (as opposed to $1500 for private).

$1300 a month??? WOW! I am used to paying $530 a month per child a month. So this is what really makes DC expensive I guess.
