Default Help Please

Hey there,

I am starting a consulting job in DC at the end of June. My girlfriend works in downtown Baltimore (federal hill right off 95). All of my work is going to be done at locations that have easy access to and from the Metro stations - so I will Metro everyday.

Does anyone know of any safe/convienent places where we could live (close to metro but not as long of a commute for her or vice versa)?

Looking to spend approximately 1500 a month.

Thanks in advance.

Well, if you want to drive more, my friend lives in Odenton. It's not much there but a nice family neighborhood. Her hubby goes on MARC to DC every morning, and that's about 50 mins I think. They are just 8 mi south of BWI.

You can look at Silver Spring as well, but that might be about 50 to 1 hr drive for her. During traffic, it will be hard for her to leave DC area or you leaving Baltimore area, though.

I think it's important to look at an area, then try to commute during a weekday to see if you like the commute.

If you take this advice, try doing it on a Thursday. Since many government agencies offer alternate schedules (where people have Friday off), this can resemble typical "Friday" traffic.

Another vote for Silver Spring. Commuting from there to Baltimore is a reverse commute on 95 since most people commute towards DC, so traffic is pretty fair.

Keep in mind that there is no perfect solution here, though. You're working in different cities, after all.
