Came here from Boston by personal choice. Much better weather than what I was used to, better job opps, more international culture, but without all the yentas and crass people you get in NYC.

I used to work for an organization that believed in transferring its managers to different locations every 2-3 years. We moved from Miami to North Carolina to Southern Illinois to DC, all in a period of 5 years. After less than 2 years here, they were talking about us moving again, and the two places being discussed were Duluth, MN and Danbury, CT. Well, my DW & I really liked living in the DC area, and having been born and raised in Miami, FL, I decided that Maryland was as far north as I wanted to live. So I changed jobs in 1987 and have been here ever since.

I took a leap of faith and did it.....20 yrs ago.....I'm so glad I did. I move from North Carolina which is 4.5 hrs away, so the commute is easy. You are comming from NYC....3.5....easy. I didn't get your age, but if you are in your 20s or 30s....do it...gl
