The other thing to note is that sometimes Homeland Security decides to use the 4th of July as an 'evacuation exercise' and tries to see how many cars they can get out along the DC evacuation routes in 10-20-30 minutes. It's not exactly normal traffic patterns but altered by cops on the streets to test emergency procedures (you may think I'm joking but I'm not). Not sure if they will do one this year but they have in the past.

Default Thanks

I appreciate everyone's input so far. I think we've definitely decided on taking a train from Cinci to DC & not having a vehicle. I'll really start planning after the 4th this year. I don't even think some sites will let me search trip packages for next July until August. I have a lot to think about, but you've given me a lot to consider.

Thanks!!
