Default Can anyone chime in on this commute? Rock Creek Pkwy Southbound

I've found a few places to rent around Military Rd and 16th St, NW, and Im wondering just how awful my daily commute would be if I were to sign on the dotted line. I am currently working in Fairfax. Yes I know its rediculous to even want to attemp this every day but I have my reasons...

Anyways, does anyone regularly take Rockcreek Parkway Southbound and/or 66 westbound in the morning? I would essentially have to take the parkway to the Theodore Roosevelt Bridge, and then 66 to the Beltway. So, what type of hell would I potentially be in for?

That would be a special brand of hell, friend.

The Rock Creek wouldn't be a problem -- I'm on there most mornings and unless there's a disabled vehicle things move just fine.

66W wouldn't even be a huge problem most days since you're going against the rush.

It's just a heckuva lot of distance, and there's lots of different areas you could run into trouble.

The notion of a "reverse commute" is only true to some degree here as you probably know.

You'd probably average about an hour, but it would be a frustrating hour I think, with potential to be much worse on days like this one.

Would it be easier to take Military west to Nebraska to Arizona and then just go over Chain Bridge and pick up 123 south to Fairfax? It's no piece of cake any way you slice it, but going all the way downtown to pick up 66 seems a bit much...
