This is not NYC we don't have an uptown and downtown. If you want help, learn the local vocabulary.
First, learn to read. That post was from 2009. Why would you even reply?
Second, I was new to the city. Of course I didn't know your so called "vocabulary". I wasn't from here!
Third, like the others have said, you're wrong. People do use those terms. Not to mention, those who called you out have posted a lot on here.(DCs Finest, Mahatma, MDAllStar) I would trust their opinions way before yours.
Forth, I'd be willing to be I actually know the city better than you by now. I could care less if you're a native. That means nothing. I know plenty who never leave their neighborhood. I've personally worked in every fire house in the city. I go home from work and study maps so I know how to respond quickly on calls. I know the city very well. At the time, I may not have known the specifics of which neighborhoods were considered what. I at least knew it existed though. I does in most cities, not just NYC.
Pretty much every large city in the country uses those terms. Obviously you're the only one on here who doesn't understand that.
30 years living here as he claims and yet has never ONCE heard us natives in both the District and the metro area utter the words Uptown, Downtown, Southside, or even Midtown????? Unbelievable....This is becoming mad suspect....
LOL, been living east of the park for over 30 years, so perhap longer than you've been alive. Uptown, midtown, downtown are Manhattan terms.
What are you talking about? What neighborhood did you grow up in? I strongly doubt you are from here talking like this. Everybody knows that area of the city is uptown. What did you call it growing up?
