Hello- I am currently working as an analyst for a DoD contractor in the southwest part of the United States. I have experience in ERP systems integration, project management, technical training, web based training development, process improvement, as well as IT management for a manufacturing company. I also have experience working for a Homeland Security contractor. Does anyone know of any headhunters or any other resources I could use to help with my long distance job search? I hold a master's in IT and my undergrad is in liberal arts. I have 8 years post graduate school work experience. Thanks for your help!
I am looking to move to D.C. myself and have a degree in IT. I have a friend who works in IT in D.C he recommended Robert Half Technology to me. I'm not sure if you have looked yet but, there are tons of IT jobs on Washington Post over 2500 last time I looked. You can also check dice.com.
Do you have an active clearance at this time? Being 'clearance eligible' (meaning you'll get clearance and don't have any problems in your past) is a whole world of difference having an 'active clearance' already, in which case there are tons of jobs. And TS is just the start--many folks will advertise for a whole bunch of other types in the ads (poly is a big one).
But, believe it or not, the Post is really a good place to look. There job board has a lot of stuff. Dice.com as well. Theladders.com if you are more senior. Potomac Tech Wire (google it) is something you should subscribed to (free). It lists 'cleared job fairs' that seem to be occurring nearly every week in the DC area.
The Washington Post last year published a series titled "Top Secret America", detailing the companies doing classified work and their locations. It includes a mapping function that's a useful resource to see who's looking for cleared personnel. Top Secret America | washingtonpost.com
There's a hospital in Texas, Scott & White, who are looking for people to fill some IT jobs as well.
