That describes thousands of places. What sort of neighborhood do you want to live in? Will you be working someplace? If so, living within range of it will be quite important...

I restricted my attention to Dupont circle, Adams Morgan, Woodley Park. (btw I am coming from NY and don't know DC at all). I will be working in Maryland but I will have a car and I don't mind traffic.

Don't mind traffic...that's what they all say. All three are as safe as you'd want them to be, and there are nice to very nice (and even some ridiculously nice) places in all three. As for 'city life' (it kind of depends on what you mean by that), Dupont is probably the brightest of those bulbs, then Adams-Morgan (which is like the next block over). Personally, I'd go with Woodley Park because it IS a little more sedate. A few more trees, a little tiny bit less urban, next to the zoo, still close to everything...

Kennedy-warren and Calvert Woodley look very nice. what do you think?

any other suggestions?
