I'm planning to start lessons at the tennis center in southeast this weekend, and I have never been to the area. The tennis center is kind of in between the Congress Heights and Southern Avenue stations on the green line. Has anyone here been to the tennis center? Is the area pretty safe? I really don't know much about this area in Southeast, and I want to know what the area is like before I go. One bus stops at the Anacostia station, which I've heard some negative things about; should I avoid that route? Thanks in advance!

Mind your business, don't look too timid, act like you know whats up, don't set up shop to sell any crack, pcp or heroin and don't try to make a citizens arrest, and you will be cool.

For real though, the area is fine, it is in the city, so you have to use your city /common sense (no Ipod, no flashing money, be aware of your surroundings, don't wander off, don't mess with people, etc), and enjoy your tennis match
