Default Relocated to area, need assistance on DC living! Esp Kennedy-Warren

Hi! My husband and I are in our early 30's.. we have a 2 year old child and 1 yr old lab. We are undecided on where to buy and have decided to rent in the DC area for a year to get to know the area better. We are looking for a 2+ bedroom apt with good amenities, nice location/safe, close to metro, and ideally not a very rowdy nightlife scene.. been there, done that Our price range $3k-$4k. We are considering the Kennedy-Warren apts on Connecticut Ave, but I'm not sure how safe the area is and how terrible the congestion will be with the zoo out front. Also, I'm very curious of the demographics, young families with younger children, etc. Any advice would be much appreciated!! Thanks!!

That area is between Woodley Park and Cleveland Park, and there are some families located off of Connecticut Avenue up on the side streets. I think AU Park (near Tenleytown) might have more kids/families and less noise/nightlife.
