Default Fairmont Heights, MD (PG County) - 59th Ave - Is it ok?

I'm interested in renting a place in Fairmont Heights, MD on 59th Ave. I checked out PG County's Police dept's crime mapper system and there appears to have been 12 burglaries in that particular area within the last 3 months. Would anyone that knows that area care to given an opinion on it?

Thanks,

I would not live there. I used to teach there. The neighborhood is probably one of the most run-down in the county. You would want to visit first before making a decision.
