Default Best home internet option for DC

Hi all,

I'm moving into a rental apt. in DC (it's my first time living here) and was wondering if anyone had done the research lately and what they found was the best option for home internet in DC at the moment.

Thanks

FIOS from Verizon is probably the fastest, if available.

Comcast talks about DOCIS 3 coming soon which will be very fast.

Do you know you really have an 'option'? Most buildings don't offer multiple services. Most are either comcast-only or RCN-only. Most buildings do not allow satellite installations.

If you do have an option, 'best' is subjective. What is your priority? Cheap? Reliable? Fast?

Verizon Fios is only available in a few apartment buildings around Nationals Park and one other neighborhood in Southeast.
The rest of the city is scheduled to be wired over the next 9 years, starting with a few neighborhoods in upper NW in the spring of next year.

Follow Kodaka's advice and check with your building. You may not have options to choose from to begin with if they are only working with one provider.

Comcast and RCN offer cable internet and Verizon and Direct TV offer DSL in the district. RCN is garbage and I don't mess with DSL, so I guess I'd recommend Comcast. But that's me.

Depends where you live. Like here in my part of N.E. I can only get comcast or verizon's slow DSL. which is one of the reasons I've moving from this area.
