Please toss in your thoughts...
Where is the best small town, not too far from organic groceries and a gym, surrounded by stunning hiking, sunny but not arid, open to two smiling lesbians and just darn charming? Utopia. Do you know where to find it?
Thank you

Leavenworth could work, but I don't remember seeing a gym in that area. They definitely have organic food (lots of farms) and the wineries are starting to develop a good reputation.

Are there any great little mountain towns in the North Cascades?

You would be hard pressed finding anything like that in WA. There are towns that fit your criteria well, but are not sunny at all. I'd look into Ashland, Oregon

Bend, OR may work too.

There's just not really any towns in the PNW that are both sunny and lush green. But you can find towns that are "semi-arid" and somewhat "sunny", but nothing like NC.

Goodluck!

Edit: Leavenworth does seem like a good choice too!

Kitittas County is known for it's prime location for outdoor activities. I'm more familiar with the Roslyn/Cle Elum area and it's nestled in the Cascades and surrounded by the gorgeous outdoors. They have a ton of hiking and mountain biking trails that go through the towns. Roslyn has a great specialty/organic store but it's pretty small, you'd have to go elsewhere for all your needs. They're small cities/towns with a lot of character & history but I don't have enough experience w/ the area to say how open they are. I highly recommend the place as at least a summer weekend away to though! I went camping near the Cle Elum lake and the fresh rushing water next to the rocky cliffs was one of the most gorgeous things I've ever seen in the state.
