Default KITSAP county schools?

My question is what part of Kitsap county has the best schools.

I believe there is a South, Central, Northern Kitsap school districts?

Anyone have any info on any of these.

I have 2 kids about to start...

Not really looking for affluence over reality, just trying to figure what areas have the highest graduation rates, graduates from 4yr school rates, crime rates, drugs, etc....

I am a secondary science teacher and just looking for some information at the beginning of researching the area.

thank you in advance .

Richard

Several other school districts exist in Kitsap County besides the ones you mentioned, including the Bainbridge Island district, the Bremerton district, and the Peninsula district.
Of the school districts you mentioned, North Kitsap generally has the best reputation, and it includes Poulsbo, which is a nice, pretty, safe, and charming town.
The Peninsula district is also considered top notch. Gig Harbor is in the Peninsula district, and that's also a very pleasant and pretty place.
Bainbridge Island is considered one of the best school districts in the state, but it is an expensive area to live in.
Bremerton has some nice parts, but some dangerous and ugly parts as well, and the school district is considered the worst of the lot.

Thank you so much for the helpful information on the SDs.
So what I am grasping here is that Bainsbridge SD would be #1 and then North Kitsap would be #2 and then Peninsula SD would be #3?

My family and I are trying to pinpoint our location of residency as we relocate to the area. We are currently in Southwest Florida, Naples area and we just moved away from a local SD which has bussing, One could live a mile from a school, and then be bussed 30 miles away due to desegregation measures. Kinda stinks when your paying high taxes in a nice area and then get bused to a not so great neighborhood. Would I be correct in saying that Kitsap schools,,, you would attend the school closest to your residence?

Right now we are hoping for Poulsbo, Kingston, Bainsbridge island areas..From what I hear its the more desirable areas?

Thanks again
Richard

Just pointing out, Peninsula Schools are in Pierce County. While most of the Kitsap Peninsula is in Kitsap County, the extreme southern part is part of Pierce County and has more connections with Tacoma rather than Bremerton or Silverdale.

Bainbridge is certainly nice. Poulsbo is nice and as Bainbridge got out of reach for some people to afford, they opted for nearby Poulsbo and it's seen quite a lot of revitalization.
I don't think Kingston is considered quite as nice as Poulsbo or Bainbridge, but that might be based on not so current information. It's pretty enough, though.

Thank you for the update on peninsula SD being in Pierce county was not aware of that.

Anyone on this thread live North of Silverdale in Kitsap county?

We are looking for a residence with some acres to lease while we get settled and would really like to stay north or west of Silverdale area.. I think we might be priced out of the Bainsbridge leasing for acres. We are looking to lease at a maximum monthly rate at about $2200.

Does anyone have any information about how the local bases and shipyard affect the demographics of the population in Kitsap? Is it a transient population, or is it mostly born and raised local individuals.
Coming from Florida, so we are looking to stay clear of the transient populations this time.....

Thanks again

We live in oldtown Poulsbo, but don't have school-age kids so I'm not able to offer school advice. Ira is always a wealth of great information--you can trust his advice and info. We have a few military families around our area, but it doesn't have a transient population feel at all. I know exactly what you mean by transient because we lived in Florida for many years before moving to Poulsbo three years ago. We don't miss it at all!

Thank you everyone for the great info. I believe we are getting close on making our decision on either Poulsbo area versus Issaquah on the east side. I personally coming from a densly populated area see East side continueing to grow at a faster pace than say Kitsap. In other words I really dont want to be surrounded by people on all sides anymore hence us leaning toward Kitsap.

LMB what part of FL did you come from? What do you enjoy the most about the area you are now in? We are coming from the ft myers/ naples area.

Pilgrim, my husband and I moved to Poulsbo from Orlando, FL. We lived in Orlando for nearly 15 years, but we're originally from central IL. We enjoy so much about this area, it's hard to choose just one. I guess it would probably the "walkable" factor--we're just a few blocks from the quaint downtown area and we walk there often. Also we're very close to the waterfront where there's a nice walking/biking path. We were so sick of generic, bland subdivision living in FL and we love our oldtown area in Poulsbo where every house is different. Obviously, people have different criteria for where they want to live, and this wouldn't be right for everyone, but we found exactly the lifestyle we were looking for...and also the perfect neighborhood (that part was mostly luck!).

My wife and I are just finishing up a remodel of a nice house in Kingston; it has a large double size lot with a lot of fruit and nut trees and is fully fenced. It will be available to lease Sept. 1st.

I do not live in Kingston myself but have been in the area for a number of years now. I have seen Kingston go through dramatic changes in the last 4-5 years and it is becoming quite a quaint little community. There is a lot of strong organization to support smart growth while maintaining the charm of a small town. I especially like the convenient location to the Ferry terminal and we are all excited for the passenger ferry to downtown to start in October. I think Kingston’s Saturday market is the best in the whole area and it is walking distance from the house we are leasing. Sorry, I have not information on the schools in the area but this web site seems to have a lot of good info. about the Schiools in the area rates them and provides the data points you may be interested in.
