Hi Everyone,

I am a newcomer to the Washington State teacher environment. I have a Masters Degree in Education (Curriculum and Instruction). I have a Bachelors in Business Administration with roughly thirty credits of science.
In the state I am relocating from I was able to get certified by passing a Subject Area Exam to show my expertise in Biology, Earth Space Science in grades 5 through 12. I was able to teach for 3 years as a full time teacher for Earth Space Science grades 9 through 12. Now I know for a fact that WA does NOT have reciprocity with my state.

My question is this:

How would a person with a Masters in Education and experience go about getting a certification in order to be even considered by a principal. The reason I ask this is that when I visit the WA ED. website it doesnt have too much information for teachers coming from out of state..

How can I set up certification BEFORE I get to the state. This way I can try and find a position before relocating to the area. Coming into WA with a teacher job is a major catalyst for our relocation.

Any help would be great.

Richard
