It's like most of SE WA including the Tri-Cities. Hot/dry in the summer and cold/breezy/icy at times during much of the winter. Typical weather averages would be 90's during the peak summer months and 30's and 40's during the winter months. Modest snow, occasional ice as well as the interesting wind and dust storms from time to time. The universities there provide some college feel to the town. The Washington State Penitentiary graces Walla Walla to liven things up occasionally. But... saved the best for last- WW is home to a couple of really great wineries!

Could you give me your opinion about what towns/cities have the most pleasant weather? I define "pleasant" as:
  • not hot and humid for weeks on end in the summer
  • not snowbound and frozen for weeks on end in the winter
  • rain is OK so long as it doesn't rain all day every day for weeks on end
  • gray is OK so long as it isn't gray all day every day for weeks on end
Thanks.

no place in washington exists with these requirements..... if it did everyone would live there. were you being serious when you asked this? this feels like a joke post

How about Ellensburg?
Does get some snow, 28 inches a year, but only 9 inches of rain.

Ocean Shores, Washington and Forks, Washington

70-130 inches of rain per year, weather events with tropical storm and sometimes even hurricane like winds, Almost never warm enough to wear a t-shirt outside even in the summer.

Two towns with A LOT of world class urban amenities and culture and a booming economy. It has the best economy in the Pacific coast Washington state area.

So many people live there(5,000-10,000 people) because the weather and towns are so nice.

I'm considering two job opportunities in your fair state - one in Seattle proper and the other in Pasco.

I've spent some time in the San Francisco area as a youth and a recent year in Ventura so I have an idea of what the Seattle weather can be like, only probably colder and wetter - right ?
Coming from the 'burbs east of LA, I can assume that the TC area is "similar" when it comes to summer (and heat); though I view summer here as lasting from June until October (sometimes longer) with many successive 100+ degree days in August and September.
I'm surprised the homicide rate doesn't go up here when it's that hot but I'm sure we're all to weak from the heat to do anything more than think about it

I'm aware that the SE WA area is a desert, much like the LA Basin is, but I want to know just how insanely hot can it get? and, like most deserts, I'm sure there is a little wind to accompany it at times ?
I don't mind a little wind or the occasional gusts, but riding my motorcycle at a 45 degree tilt for miles on end in the wind (like Hwy 14 thru Palmdale and Lancaster) is not really my idea of fun if I try to go exploring on the weekends.

Am I asking for too much ??

Yeah, it can get a little breezy there. If you're in your car, you can tell if the wind quits blowing when all the farmers fall over...Don't know how it compares with where you're from. But, the wind can be significantly less within the Tri-Cities proper than outside of town. There's a lot of windbreaks planted and built...

I've seen it bounce around 110 on rare occasions there. (I think that's the record high for Pasco.) According to the Western Regional Climate center, based on data from 1948-2004, the average max temps for Richland in June, July, August, and Sept. (the warmest months) is 82.6, 90.3, 89.3, and 80.7 respectively. We always joked that it looked hotter there...

Averages about 8 inches of precip a year.

I just moved to Port Townsend a couple months ago, and I notice there are distinct microclimates around here. My house has gotten sun almost all day after brief early morning fog, if any, except for two rainy days and a couple days where it was overcast all day, but my friend's house faces Discovery Bay and she's had days where the fog never lifts, and my other friend's house in Irondale sometimes doesn't clear up until mid-afternoon. Just a few blocks away by the Straight it can be foggy when it's sunny here. I think I have a "sweet spot" when it comes to weather here.

However, I expect a long, gray winter!

I don't know... You'd be suprised how fast those 6 straight months of non-stop dark gray and rainy winter weather will actually go by for you...

Honestly, it's not too bad here in the winter (relatively speaking). You just can't compare it to winter in places such as the Malibu Shoreline!

Completely wrong state for your criteria. Sounds like you're looking for California.
