Smile Moving to Ft. Lewis Wa in 2011

Hello everyone,
As you can see from the title of this thread, we are moving to Ft. Lewis in 2011 possibly in the fall. We are a Mid 20's couple with a 2 1/2 year old and a dog. I've been trying to do some research on the cities around Ft. Lewis and in my opinion, I'm not having much luck. We are hoping to find a great community with great schools and neighborhoods that are safe. I'm not too sure if we're going to buy or rent yet and all the houses I've seen through some websites look as if they're built by the same company because, they look the same. Please include any information you may find helpful, it's greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance for all your helpful suggestions!

Where are you moving from?
I'm sure you'll like it in the Fort Lewis area. Other than feeling safe, what else are you looking for in a community. This would help with being able to recommend towns or neighborhoods. How big is your work commute tolerance? Are you looking to have a close knit neighborhood, or acreage? Are you looking for near-by shopping amenities and / or nightlife? Do you prefer new communities, or mature, grown-in neighborhoods?

I myself prefer Tumwater, however, the commute between Ft. Lewis and the Olympia/Tumwater area is quite thick, its still a nice area, schools are great
