I am heading to Miller River for camping on 7/21. I am considering a hike to Dorothy Lake. I am getting conflicting reports about the difficulty and distance. Does anyone have any experience with this hike?

Oh, I'll be interested in the responses you get! I remember in my Boy Scout days doing that hike and several others in that particular area. It's part of the Alpine Lakes Wilderness ...just gorgeous!

It's been decades and decades ago so I can't remember the hike to Lake Dorothy with a lot of clarity but what I do remember is the little "islandettes" in the lake itself. The hike was done while raining so I remember how miserable it was with the muddy trails and all. I remember a climb with a lot of switch-backs to a plateau where you could look down at the lake.

I wonder how much has changed. Will you report back after doing the hike, if you have the chance?

It brings back such memories ...I wish I could do it again.

I will try to report back. I am moving out of state that weekend too so I won't have access to the web for a couple of weeks. But, I will see if I can get a wi-fi connection somewhere and post. That is if I do it.
