Wink Colville, Washington area-Researching area

Howdy,
I am originally a Californian. Transplanted to Michigan in 1978. Now my wife has retired and I need to find a new full time job. We live in the Thumb (look at a map) which is a rural agricultural area, sugar beets, corn, winter wheat, etc.
Being able to change, we are considering the Spokane area, primarily up in Colville, Kettle Falls, etc. I will need a job so will be doing separate research for that. I have visited the area, as my brother lives about 20 miles north on Klugston Onion Creek Road. His area is too rural, beautiful, but too far from anything. I think we need some city type amenities.
What can you tell me about the area? We are thinking of a mobil home community, or perhaps a manufactured home on a small piece of land. Can you tell me some current information about the area?

jobs in that area are going to be hard to come by - you might want to search previous threads for Colville. I'd say while still very affordable, land is not as cheap as it used to be. For amenities, there is a hospital, walmart, safeway, many little shops, a farmers market, and of course unlimited outdoor activities (hunting/fishing/camping). Very beautiful area out there, but you need to be the right kind of person to appreciate it's good and bad aspects.

Hey Darthdad

I live in Stevens County. If you are looking for city-type amenities, there are a couple of areas you should look at. One is near the golf course in Chewelah. I'ts a smaller town than Colville, but is developing, and has a fly in airstrip, golf, casino, etc. Additionally, you can be anywhere from there down to Deer Park (which you might like) and Spokane is about 30 minutes away.

I wasn't sure what kind of work you might want to do...
